Chilean poet and Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda did not die of cancer, he was poisoned. This was stated by his nephew Rodolfo Reyes.
In a conversation with Culto, he provided evidence. So, according to him, the bacterium clostridium botulinum, found in his body, should not have been present in Neruda’s skeleton. Reyes believes this suggests that he was killed by government agents.
The bacterium clostridium botulinum is the causative agent of botulism, it provokes severe food intoxication that affects the nervous system. It was indeed discovered in 2017 in one of the poet’s teeth. The analysis was carried out after the exhumation of his body.
Neruda, along with Gabriela Mistral, Vicente Huidobro and Pablo de Roca, Neruda is one of the Big Four of Chilean poetry.
On September 23, 1973, at 10 pm, Pablo Neruda died at the Santa Maria Clinic in Santiago. According to one version, he was killed on the orders of Pinochet by an injection of an unknown poison. On April 8, 2013, the exhumation of the poet’s body took place in the garden of Pablo Neruda’s personal home, the cause of death was being investigated.
