The Nenets Autonomous Okrug will develop physical education and sports in rural areas

The Chairman of the Assembly’s Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports, Evgeniy Shestakov, took the initiative to develop physical education and sports in rural areas. He emphasized that the participation of athletes from villages in city competitions will help them develop more effectively and quickly. Therefore, he suggested that the regional administration organize trips for teams of rural schools to regional sporting events.

— Such a practice exists now, but it is very poorly developed. If we develop this further, it will be useful for children in the villages. And there will be an exchange of experience for city athletes. The governor replied that he would try to solve this problem. Yuri Bezdudny noted that a new national project “Long and Active Life” will start soon. It is within the framework of this national project that we would be able to implement these plans,” the deputy said.

According to the deputy, the initiative also helps to reduce the outflow of youth from rural areas. Young people will be able to develop and succeed without leaving their homes. In addition, if an athlete from a village shows outstanding results in city competitions, he will be able to take part in interregional competitions, representing the NAO.

— Of course, we will bring athletes to Naryan-Mar. I think that everyone has noticed that over the past two years our athletes have begun to travel to competitions in other regions more often. We see that the guys are growing in terms of sports. For example, our boxers perform well. The children from the villages would like to grow up in exactly the same way. But it is often extremely difficult to gain competitive experience within a village. To do this, they must be brought here. Therefore, I agree, we will definitely do this,” the governor replied.
