You can enjoy the gifts of the forest even in October
An unprecedented harvest of autumn mushrooms pleases lovers of quiet hunting in the forests of the Moscow region. Even the most unlucky novice mushroom pickers began to show off their full baskets on social networks.
As MK learned, mycologists have a completely scientific explanation for the abundance of the most popular autumn mushrooms: the humidity in the forest is moderate, and the nights are still quite warm. Both of these factors “unsealed” the mycelium, which began to awaken three weeks ago. The peak of the honey mushroom harvest occurred in mid-September, and mushroom pickers will be able to enjoy the forest gifts even in October, since the third wave of Indian summer is expected this month.
“There are so many mushrooms also because there is a lot of impassable windfall in the forests,” explains mushroom picker Alexey Nesterov. – Honey mushrooms do not like clean forests, which are monitored and looked after. They prefer areas with fallen trunks, stumps and dying birch trees. Since many forests have plenty of such “good”, there are whole bunches of honey mushrooms there.
