The Museum of Special Purpose Garage opened the exhibition “Railway Model”

In the modern world, where people have closed themselves in offices and offices, people have ceased to see the world around them, the road to the future, the severity of lines and outlines, and have long forgotten how it is to walk along the sleepers and look into the distance, along the railroad track… People lack romance . And the railway remains one of the most romantic enterprises in the country.

Yesterday at the Garage Museum of Special Purpose opened the exhibition “Railway Model”. The exhibition is dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the Russian railways, which became a symbol of technological progress back in 1837. The development of railways is steadily carried out based on the latest achievements of science and technology, continuing the rich history and glorious traditions of the most important branch of the national economy.

The international exhibition of railway models and models “Railway Model” is held by the International Public Organization “Society of Railway Lovers” (VOLZhD) in partnership with Russian Railways.

The main theme of the exhibition is a retrospective of Russian railways in miniature. Domestic modelers presented at the exhibition unique man-made models-copies of railway equipment, recreated according to surviving drawings, black-and-white photographs and a few surviving rarities. The center of the exhibition was one of the largest operating railway models in Russia, which was erected on the opening day by the hands of modellers and teams from different regions of the country. A digitally controlled railway model in the H0 (1:87) size of more than 80 prefabricated modules is located on an area of ​​300 square meters. meters. Visitors can experience live railway stations, regular train traffic according to the schedule and “model time”, fast high-speed trains and slowly crawling freight trains with steam locomotives in dynamics: this is the world of a real railway with moving trains, traffic lights, sounds of road crossings, horns of locomotives and city ​​lights. A great difference between railway and other types of technical models is the ability to organize the movement of trains on mock-ups that reproduce the world around the railway in its beauty and dynamics. At the exhibition, in addition to Russian ones, there are also railway models of foreign manufacturers, demonstrating the connection between countries and continents.

Visitors will be able to see many rare railway artifacts – lanterns, signs, station bells and many other things that convey the atmosphere of railway stations, stations, wagons – the 185-year history of Russian railways. The audience is presented with huge historical dioramas, an interactive driver simulator, collections of rails, a mock-up table for children discovering the world of railway modeling, a mini-exhibition “Narrow Gauge. On the “Pionerka” in Russia “with a unique full-scale exhibit – the trolley “Pionerka”. A separate section of the festival is devoted to an interesting and little-studied topic of transportation by rail of cars of the first persons of the state (from Nicholas II to the present day).

A special place at the exhibition was occupied by excellent collections of art works of the railway theme. These are paintings by artists representing a panorama of the rolling stock of Russian railways in different eras, old railway postcards and photographs from different eras.

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of modeling, especially the creation of layouts, for expanding knowledge not only about the railway, but also about the world around us, especially for a young person, for the professional orientation of a future railway worker. In addition, visitors to the exhibition will be able not only to watch the movement of miniature trains, but also try themselves as a locomotive driver on one of the simulators. Modern digital capabilities of the model railway will undoubtedly attract the attention of the younger generation and help in choosing a future profession.

The amazing festival brought together in one hall organizations and people related to railway transport and modeling, as well as enthusiasts of the history of Russian railways, pupils of children’s circles and studios, collectors, publishers of specialized magazines and books. The exhibition helps to join the world of the railway through modeling, and modern technical capabilities allow you to endlessly replenish your knowledge of the past and present of “cast iron”, set creative tasks and look for ways to solve them.
