The municipalities of Chukotka will go to the “Ski Track of Russia”

On Saturday, April 15, a mass race “Ski Track of Russia” (6+) is planned in the district. Competitions are being prepared to be held by all municipalities of Chukotka. The largest races will traditionally be held in Anadyr. In case of unfavorable weather, the race will be postponed to a later date, Chukotka news agency reports.

All seven municipalities of Chukotka are planning to join the mass competitions. Most of them start at noon. At this time, sports events will begin in the villages of the Bilibino district, in Bilibino itself, as well as in the district capital.

“In Anadyr, we will start preparing the ski track early – at 5 in the morning it is already light and we can work. The track will be in the same place as it has been for the last two years – along the federal ice road with a start at the seventh berth. We will act according to the established scheme, we will set up tents for changing clothes for young participants, ”said the corr. IA “Chukotka” chief judge of the competition Anton Simonov.

Children under 6 years of age will be the first to enter the Anadyr Estuary, who will need to overcome a 200-meter distance. After the finish of the youngest participants, a mass start will be given and the rest of the athletes will go to the track.

Boys and girls aged 6 to 10 years old will go on a route 1 kilometer long. The route is twice as long for participants aged 11-12, as well as for women aged 40 and over, and men over 70. Boys and girls 13-15 years old will run 3 km, the same distance will be for girls 16-17 years old, women from 18 to 39 years old, men aged 60 to 69 years old. Boys and men from 16 to 60 years old will take the longest route of 5 km.

In recent years, about 150 – 200 people have participated in the “Ski Track of Russia”. The same number is expected now. Registration of athletes will begin one hour before the start. Participants will need to present a medical clearance certificate and take out accident insurance.

The distances of the race correspond to the tests for the steps of the All-Russian sports and recreation complex of the TRP, so the participants can independently register in the automated system and pass the standards. Athletes who won prizes will be awarded medals, diplomas and memorable prizes from the Russian Ministry of Sports and the regional department of culture, sports and tourism.

Recall that the All-Russian mass ski race “Ski Track of Russia” has been held since 1982 in order to attract labor collectives and youth to skiing, as well as to promote physical culture and a healthy lifestyle. In most regions of the country, competitions are held in mid-February; in Chukotka, they are traditionally held in the spring due to climatic conditions. Last year, more than 1,500 residents of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug took part in the races.
