The Moscow City Election Commission registered Sergei Sobyanin as a candidate for the post of mayor of the capital, the corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the commission on Monday.
“Having examined the documents submitted by the candidate for the post of mayor Sergei Semyonovich Sobyanin, I want to note the following: all the documents submitted fully comply with the requirements of the electoral legislation. The procedure for submitting documents also complies with the requirements of the law, ”said Dmitry Reut, deputy chairman of the commission, at the meeting (quote from “Interfax”).
The deputy chairman also said that Sergei Sobyanin had provided 115 signatures of municipal deputies from 115 districts.
In June, the capital’s parliament, at the last plenary session of this session, scheduled the election of the mayor of Moscow for September 10. The voting itself will be three days and will take place from 8 to 10 September. 12 people put forward their candidacies for the post of mayor, of which six were self-nominated and six were party representatives. However, only five candidates provided a package of documents.
In addition to Mr. Sobyanin, these are Boris Chernyshov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the LDPR, Vladislav Davankov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the New People, Leonid Zyuganov, member of the Bureau of the Moscow City Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and Dmitry Gusev, First Deputy Head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction in the Duma. Decisions on candidate registration will be made by July 17.
