The Moscow City Court commuted the sentences of the Magomedov brothers

The Moscow City Court commuted the sentence of co-owner of the Summa group Ziyavudin Magomedov for the theft of 11 billion rubles from 19 years in a maximum security colony to 18.5 years. His brother Magomed’s sentence was also reduced by six months, to 17.5 years in a maximum security colony.
On December 1, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow found the Magomedov brothers guilty of theft of 11 billion rubles and embezzlement. The theft of property was committed as part of an organized group. The state prosecution then asked that the brothers be sentenced to 24 and 21 years in prison, respectively.
Magomedov was accused of nine counts of fraud and creating a criminal community. They were arrested in 2018.
