The monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra appealed to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with a request that he “do not offend the Lavra, but, on the contrary, protect it.”
One of the clergy said that Zelensky announced plans to be baptized if he was elected president, and the monks and parishioners, having learned about these plans, prayed for his victory in the elections.
On March 10, the leadership of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, subordinate to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, published an announcement demanding that the monks of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra leave the monastery before March 29.
