The opposition Shor Party of Moldova announced a 50,000-strong protest action.
The organizers promise to hold another anti-government protest in the center of Chisinau, near the presidential administration building. As expected, for the first time, politicians and citizens who support pro-European right-wing forces will join the protests.
The organizers are going to set up a stage and tents at the place of the rally, so the action can become indefinite.
Protests in Moldova have been going on since May, the main claims of the protesters are related to rising prices for energy resources and food, as well as inflation and falling living standards. In the summer, inflation in Moldova reportedly reached record levels of growth, up to 33.5% year on year.
In addition, the Sandu government has been criticized for refusing to contact Moscow on energy prices. In addition, the accusations relate to pressure on the opposition.
According to polls, about 60% of Moldovans do not trust the ruling Action and Solidarity party, about 70% are disappointed with the government’s course, and almost 65% are in favor of replacing it.
