The mobilized Russian servicemen told how they encountered foreign mercenaries while performing combat missions on the Svatovsky sector of the front in the Donbass, RIA Novosti reports.
One of the fighters, who witnessed the events, told the agency that his unit was in the trenches and took up defensive positions. An order was received to withdraw to the landing center, since artillery would be fired at the enemy.
“We moved to the center, and shadows began to flicker,” says the fighter.
According to him, the Russian servicemen began to demand a password from the group moving in the landing in order to recognize which unit it was.
“In response, they shouted to us: “Russians surrender!”. We opened fire on them,” the fighter said.
The servicemen also told the agency that the fighters who offered to surrender to them spoke with what appeared to be a Polish or Slovak accent.
The Russian military has repeatedly stated that Polish mercenaries are participating in the conflict on the side of the Kyiv regime. At the end of November, the Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of more than 100 Polish mercenaries in the DPR and 200 in Velikie Khutori, Kharkiv region.
In the LPR, with reference to intelligence data and radio intercepts, in the same period they reported heavy losses among Polish soldiers near Svatovo, Kremennaya, Lisichansk and in other directions.
