The MMA Union of the Russian Federation announced a gross violation of the rules at the tournament in Belogorsk, where, as a result of a blow to the head died teenager. “Not wearing a helmet is a flagrant violation of the rules. Representatives of the MMA Union of Russia are conducting an inspection, and the competent authorities are also investigating, ”said TASS Andrey Terentiev, Vice-President of the MMA Union of Russia. He expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. Athletes in the age category of 16-18 years old must enter the competition in a helmet, Mr. Terentyev reminded.
“For reasons that are still unclear, the chief judge of the competition (he is also the president of the regional organization) decided to compete without them,” Stanislav Melyukov, Mayor of Belogorsk, said earlier. An investigation is underway into the death of a 16-year-old athlete, the prosecutor’s office of the Amur Region reported.
