The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation proposes to legally limit the working hours of taxi drivers

The Russian tripartite commission for the regulation of social and labor relations (RTC) is now discussing a bill by the Ministry of Transport to limit the work of taxi drivers to 12 hours a day, informs R.G.
It is noted that now legal entities and individual entrepreneurs can carry out taxi transportation, and from September 1, self-employed people will also be allowed to do this.
As noted in the explanatory note to the bill, a driver in a state of fatigue may not feel tired under the influence of various factors: emotional arousal, danger or interest in the work performed, responsibility. In addition, it can be affected by various psychoactive substances that are part of the “energy” (for example, caffeine).
As the authors of the bill note, the logical result of overwork at the wheel is an accident.
To protect taxi drivers and their passengers from risk, it is proposed to establish working time standards limited to 12 hours a day.
At the same time, as Farida Mirzabalaeva, associate professor of the basic department of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted, the question of control remains open. She explained that taxi drivers, as a rule, work simultaneously with several platforms that are competitors to each other. These platforms may track driver time differently, or may not have one at all.
For this reason, according to Mirzabalaeva, it is necessary to integrate information on the duration of work from digital platforms into a single network so that you can control how much time the taxi driver spent behind the wheel.
