Russian carriers are not going to be required to collect additional information about passengers. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced this on Thursday, February 22.

Deputy head of the department Dmitry Bakanov commented on media reports about the relevant changes, which allegedly could begin to take effect in September.

The Deputy Minister noted that the new departmental order does not oblige carriers to collect additional information beyond the data that passengers provide when purchasing tickets.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport did not rule out that may temporarily prohibit meeting and escorting passengers at airports to strengthen security measures. Such measures are expected to be introduced for a short period of time for a specific airport during times of greatest danger, the ministry noted.
