Football clubs from new regions will be fully integrated into Russian football, including competitions and training camps. According to Deputy Sports Minister Odes Baysultanov, this will be done regardless of any reaction from FIFA and UEFA.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Russia is a self-sufficient state with its own legislation, including in terms of sports. “We are not a branch of FIFA or UEFA,” Baysultanov said.

According to the official, he does not see any restrictions for this integration – all football players from the teams of the new regions have Russian passports and are citizens of Russia. Baysultanov noted that the teams need an adaptive period, after which they will become part of the large football family of Russia.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced in October 2023 that 10 football clubs from the new territories will take part in a joint championship called “Commonwealth”. The tournament should start in 2024.
