The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation explained the reduction in funding for sports

The reduction in government funding for the program for the development of physical education and sports in Russia in the coming years is planned. First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Azat Kadyrov spoke about this on Wednesday, September 20.
A representative of the department clarified that for 2024-2026, the program for the development of physical culture and sports provides for the allocation of 55.8 billion rubles in 2024, 41.5 billion rubles in 2025, 43 billion rubles in 2026.
Due to the expiration of the relevant federal project, further prospects have not yet been determined; the reduction in the volume of allocations is planned, Kadyrov explained.
Earlier, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin spoke about an agreement with the Accounts Chamber to assess the financing of physical education and sports in the country in order to propose the most effective model.
At the same time, Matytsin emphasized that his department attaches great importance to the international positioning of Russian sports and building relationships with all regions of the world based on sports diplomacy.
