Ministry of Justice of Russia expanded a list of undesirable organizations, including the Latvian media foundation “Support Service” (the founder is media manager Ilya Krasilshchik, recognized as a foreign agent), as well as two American and one British non-governmental organizations.

In addition to the Help Desk, the activities of the organizations Global Investigative Journalism Network, True Russia Limited (included in the register of foreign agents) and Russian America for Democracy in Russia are recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Justice made the decision to include all four organizations on the undesirable list based on a decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

Head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev stated, that the organization “Russian America for Democracy in Russia” included in the list “is engaged in raising funds for equipping the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the subsequent delivery of ammunition, drones, thermal imagers, night vision devices and uniforms to the enemy, and also advocates the introduction of sanctions and the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine” . “She plays a key role in cultivating destructive sentiments among the Russian diaspora in the United States, coordinating the work of cells in more than 20 American cities,” the parliamentarian emphasized. The organization’s website, created in 2022, says it unites “US Russians who stand for freedom and democracy in Russia” and against military action in Ukraine.

The “Real Russia” project was created in the UK with the participation of writer Boris Akunin, ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and economist Sergei Guriev (included in the register of foreign agents). The creators of the project called the purpose of its activities to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of military operations in Ukraine and support anti-war projects. The project website is blocked in the Russian Federation by decision of Roskomnadzor.

“Support Service” was created by Ilya Krasilshchik in May 2022. The organization provides consultations on issues such as mobilization, relocation, charitable and psychological assistance, and news media with stories of people affected by the military operation in Ukraine. In October last year, the project website was blocked in the Russian Federation. Ilya Krasilshchik himself was sentenced in absentia in Russia to eight years in prison in the case of spreading fakes about the RF Armed Forces.

The Global Network of Investigative Journalists was founded in 2003 and unites 244 non-governmental organizations in 90 countries. Its creators note that all members of the network “support and develop investigative journalism, and their efforts are aimed at further expanding this network as a global media hub.”
