Deputy Head of the Ministry of Justice Oleg Sviridenko said that the department has revealed facts of the participation of foreign agents in the work of the headquarters of candidates for elected positions. He did not explain exactly how foreign agents participate in the work of the headquarters and what kind of elections we are talking about. In addition, Mr. Sviridenko said that within the framework of the presidential campaign, the activities of foreign agents are aimed at “exerting a negative impact” on its progress and results.

“We note that foreign agents are actively participating in the creation of information content containing value judgments regarding the ongoing presidential election campaign. Among other things, it is proposed not to vote at all or to recognize the elections as illegitimate,” Oleg Sviridenko said at a meeting of the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty (quoted from RIA Novosti).

According to him, such activities are carried out by both individuals and legal entities declared foreign agents. Among the foreign agent organizations, Oleg Sviridenko named the “Voice” movement, the “Spring” public movement and the “Ark” association (all three organizations are recognized as foreign agents).

Oleg Sviridenko noted that currently there are 763 people and organizations on the register of foreign agents, 569 of which are active. In addition, since 2022, about 40 professional politicians and 13 deputies have been included in the register.

Today, February 8, Central Election Commission refused in registering as candidates for the presidential election to four candidates: Sergei Malinkovich from the “Communists of Russia”, Boris Nadezhdin from the “Civil Initiative”, self-nominated bloggers Anatoly Batashev and the Russian Rada. According to the head of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova, there will be four candidates on the ballot for the presidential election: State Duma Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov (“New People”), current head of state Vladimir Putin (self-nominated), head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) and the head of the State Duma Committee for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation).

What violations did the Central Election Commission find in the documents of two presidential candidates – in the Kommersant publication “The signatures did not come out in handwriting”.
