The Ministry of Justice has updated the list of foreign agents. It includes the writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya, director Ilya Khrzhanovsky, journalist Sergei Medvedev, the Center for the Protection of Human Rights (CHHR) Memorial (created by employees of the “Memorial” included in the register of foreign agents and liquidated) and the charity foundation “Need Help”.
The Ministry of Justice provides the following reasons for inclusion in the register:
- Lyudmila Ulitskaya, according to the Ministry of Justice, spoke on information platforms provided by foreign agents and foreign media, spoke out against the special military operation in Ukraine, promoted LGBT relations, and took part in the creation of messages and materials of foreign agents. Lives outside of Russia.
- Sergei Medvedev participated in speaking on foreign media platforms, disseminated false information aimed at creating a negative image of Russia and the RF Armed Forces. He took part in the creation and dissemination of messages and materials of foreign agents, and spoke out against the special military operation in Ukraine. Lives outside the Russian Federation, and also collaborates with an undesirable organization.
- Ilya Khrzhanovsky disseminated false information about the decisions of Russian public authorities and the policies they pursue. He opposed the special military operation in Ukraine. Participated in the creation of messages and materials of foreign agents. Lives outside the Russian Federation.
- Unregistered public association CHHR “Memorial” disseminated false information aimed at creating a negative image of Russia and the RF Armed Forces. Participated in the creation and dissemination of messages and materials of foreign agents. Opposed the special military operation in Ukraine. Supported organizations recognized as extremist. The co-chairman and member of the board of the public association is included in the register of foreign agents.
- Charitable Foundation “Need Help” took part in the creation and dissemination of messages and materials of foreign agents, disseminated false information about decisions made by public authorities of the Russian Federation and the policies pursued by them. Provided support to organizations included in the register of foreign agents.
