The Ministry of Justice of Russia declared journalists Ivan Zhadaev, Kirill Kharatyan, Vladimir Ruvinsky, Veronika Kutsyllo, Anton Dolin and Natalya Telegina as foreign media agents. The register of individuals-foreign agents included: journalist Dmitry Nizovtsev, press secretary of Alexei Navalny Kira Yarmysh, editor-in-chief of Dozhd (recognized as a foreign agent by the media) Tikhon Dzyadko. Also, the Vesna movement, previously included in the list of terrorists and extremists, was declared a foreign agent.
The website of the Ministry of Justice states that all the mentioned persons who were included in the register of individuals-foreign agents were added to the list for “carrying out political activities.” The sources of foreign funding in the case of Dmitry Nizovtsev and Tikhon Dzyadko are Ukraine, and in the case of Kira Yarmysh, Ukraine and the United States.
Earlier today, the Togliatti Foundation, which was assigned this status in 2017, was excluded from the list of non-profit organizations-foreign agents. One non-profit organization, Free People, was added to the register.
The Ministry of Justice of Russia has been maintaining a register of media outlets acting as a foreign agent since 2017 (now there are 193 people and organizations in it). The department has been compiling the list of NPOs-foreign agents since 2012. In 2022, the ministry began to maintain a list of individuals-foreign agents. Now it has 35 people.
