The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has put American journalist Tom Rogan on the wanted list. It is not specified under what specific article he is wanted. On February 5, Rosfinmonitoring added the journalist to the list of extremists and terrorists.

In May 2018, Tom Rogan published an article in the American magazine The Washington Examiner, in which he called for the destruction of the Crimean Bridge by airstrikes. In the article, he called the bridge “a blatant insult to Ukraine as a nation.” On May 17, 2018, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the journalist, reporting that the published material fell under the article on a terrorist act (Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the same time, Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus phoned the journalist on behalf of the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin. They thanked the journalist for his excellent work and promised to help if pressure was put on the journalist. Tom Rogan himself reported the incident, saying that he was played by “Russian intelligence.”

Tom Rogan was born in London in 1986. He currently works as a political columnist for The Washington Examiner and frequently writes about security and intelligence issues in Russia, China and the Middle East. Mr. Rogan has previously written for the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Reuters, The Independent, Atlantic, National Review, Telegraph and Guardian.
