The Ministry of Internal Affairs demanded the arrest in absentia of footballer and sports blogger Evgeny Savin in the case of discrediting the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), it follows from card indexes Tverskoy District Court of Moscow. In mid-February, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced Evgeniy Savina is wanted.

The details of the case in which the blogger is involved are unknown. In September 2023 “RIA News” wrote, citing a source, that a case was opened against Evgeny Savin to discredit the army because of his interview with Ksenia Sobchak. Interview published April 24, 2023. According to the agency’s source, in it the blogger “spoke negatively about the Russian army” and “condemned its actions.”

In February 2023, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow fined Evgeny Savin 50 thousand rubles. according to Art. 20.3.3 Code of Administrative Offenses (discrediting the army). Then the reason was a video on his YouTube channel “KraSava”, published in April 2022. The video featured Ukrainian football players who spoke out against the military operation in Ukraine.

During his sports career, Evgeny Savin played for many Russian football clubs, in particular Ural, Tom, and Anzhi. The footballer left Russia after the start of the military operation in Ukraine and moved to Cyprus. Its football team, Krasava, created in 2021, now plays in the Cyprus second division under the name Ypsonas.
