The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs denied the order to create assault battalions under the department. Earlier, a document appeared on social networks, allegedly signed by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, on the creation of “voluntary, shock-assault battalions.”
The photo of the order was published by Odnoklassniki users. The document was allegedly signed on the basis of Order No. 15 of the Supreme Commander of March 2. “Kommersant” did not find such an order in the public domain. The document says that the leaders of the “voluntary, shock assault battalions” will be deputy ministers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the regions.
IN Telegram channel “MVD Media” attached a photograph of the order and wrote: “The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs refutes.”
The Russian Defense Ministry regularly refers to military personnel from the private military company (PMC) Wagner as “assault squads”. Legislatively, PMCs and mercenaries are prohibited in Russia.
