The Ministry of Industry and Trade and car manufacturers have agreements according to which an unreasonable increase in car prices is unacceptable. About it informed Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in an interview with Interfax.
“At the same time, we have clear agreements with our automakers on the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases. We will pay attention to their observance,” he said.
According to Manturov, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will also “carefully assess” the level of localization of enterprises, increasing production volumes and mastering new technologies when distributing state subsidies. He also noted that foreign manufacturers who localized car production in Russia will gain a competitive advantage over those who imported cars from abroad.
In early July, Vedomosti wrotethat new passenger cars in the summer-autumn of 2023 may rise in price by an average of 5-10% due to the continued strengthening of the main currencies used to purchase components and finished cars since June. This may affect the reduction of discounts and the cancellation of promotions, which gained momentum in the first half of the year.
