The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Federal Customs Service (FTS) are working on uniformity in calculating the recycling fee for electric vehicles, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the ministry. At the end of April, the media reported that the owners of already imported electric cars received letters from customs officers demanding that they pay a scrap fee at a rate different from that used for cars with conventional engines.
“The issue of uniformity in calculating the coefficients of the utilization fee for electric vehicles imported by individuals for personal use is being worked out by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia together with the Federal Customs Service of Russia,” the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
The base rate of waste collection in Russia is 20 thousand rubles. For individuals who import cars into the country for personal use, reduced coefficients are applied (0.17 for new and 0.26 for cars older than 3 years). For cars with an internal combustion engine and electric cars, a single calculation scheme was in effect.
25th of April “News” reported that the customs authorities demanded that some owners of already imported electric cars pay a recycling fee. In particular, the Nizhny Novgorod customs indicated that Tesla has coefficients of 1.63 and 6.1.
