The Ministry of Health proposed reducing the age for examination of adolescents by a gynecologist to 13 years
The project, developed by the Russian Ministry of Health, proposes changing the age of the first preventive examination of teenage girls by a gynecologist from 14 to 13 years. The corresponding document was published on Federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
The explanatory note to the project notes that such a measure is necessary in the light of the modern medical approach aimed at the early detection of reproductive diseases among adolescents.
According to the recommendations, the first preventive examination by a gynecologist is recommended from the age of 14. However, as Elena Uvarova, the chief freelance gynecologist for children and youth at the Russian Ministry of Health, told reporters, puberty begins at the age of 13. According to her, in case of possible pathologies, they must be identified as early as possible and treatment must begin.
