Yesterday, July 14, State Duma unanimously adopted gender reassignment law. All 386 deputies present voted in his support. The law introduces a ban on surgery and hormone therapy. It is also forbidden to change gender in documents. The only exception will be medical intervention related to the treatment of congenital anomalies. Citizens who have already changed their sex will be prohibited from adopting children, and their marriage will be annulled. Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov called redundant experts’ fears that the ban on gender reassignment violates the right to life and health care.
