The Russian Ministry of Health has developed a project according to which the age of the first preventive examination of teenage girls by a gynecologist is proposed to be changed to 13 years instead of 14. The document was published on the federal portal draft normative legal acts.

The explanatory note of the project states that the measure is necessary in the context of the modern medical approach, which is aimed at the early detection of reproductive diseases among adolescents.

The first preventive examination by a gynecologist is recommended from the age of 14. At the same time, puberty occurs already at the age of 13, Elena Uvarova, chief freelance gynecologist for children and youth at the Russian Ministry of Health, told reporters. According to her, in case of possible pathologies, they must be identified as early as possible and treatment must begin.
