The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Norwegian Ambassador to the country Rune Resaland because of the “unacceptable” behavior and “Russophobic statements” of the employee of the Norwegian consul Elisabeth Ellingsen in a hotel in Murmansk, should from a statement from the Foreign Office.

On July 30, the Mash Telegram channel posted a video in which a woman tells a hotel employee that she “hates Russians.” According to the authors of the channel, the reason for the conflict was the request of the hotel managers to wait until the maids finished cleaning the room. Later it turned out that the woman in the video is an administrative employee of the Norwegian Consulate, Elisabeth Ellingsen.

Following the incident, Norwegian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tuva Rones Bogsnes said that the Kingdom’s Foreign Office “deeply regrets this incident.” “The expressed feelings in no way reflect Norwegian politics or the attitude of Norwegians towards Russia and the Russian people,” she noted.

By opinion the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, in the words of an employee of the Norwegian consulate, “hatred of one nationality and undisguised national superiority clearly sounded.”
