The Kingdom of Morocco has reaffirmed its neutral position regarding the conflict in Ukraine, said Foreign Minister Nasser Burita after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart. According to the MAP agency, the Moroccan authorities do not accept either side of the conflict, emphasizing that they are concerned about its impact on regional security, stability and the economic situation. The Kingdom supports a peaceful solution to this crisis and maintains diplomatic relations with both Russia and Ukraine.
This is the first visit of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister to Morocco since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992. Earlier, Arab diplomats also declared the neutrality of their countries in relation to the Ukrainian crisis. At the Arab League summit in Algiers in November 2022, the leaders of the Arab countries reaffirmed the principle of neutrality and support for the pan-Arab position on the conflict in Ukraine.
