The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan denied the information about the suspension of the republic’s membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). About it informs portal stopfake.kz (created with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic to combat inaccurate data).
According to the portal, social networks and instant messengers previously reported that Kazakhstan allegedly plans to withdraw from the CSTO from January 1, 2023. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan called these messages a fake.
“Kazakhstan stands at the origins of the creation of the CSTO, is an active member of this organization. Membership in the CSTO fully meets the national interests of our country,” the ministry said. The Foreign Ministry stressed that Kazakhstan is not going to leave the organization.
The ministry also noted that participation in the CSTO is “the most important direction of foreign policy” of the republic. It is specified that the member countries of the organization cooperate on the issues of combating international terrorism, illegal migration, drug trafficking, etc.
The agreement on the creation of the CSTO was signed in 1992. In addition to Kazakhstan, the organization includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The goals of the CSTO are to strengthen international and regional stability, as well as to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states.
On the eve of the CSTO website has undergone DDoS attack, they tried to hack it, the press service of the organization reported in the Telegram channel. It was noted that the hackers tried to make changes “to some informational messages.”
