The Ministry of Finance of Belarus announced the creation of a joint tax committee with the Russian Federation in 2023

The creation of a joint tax committee of Russia and Belarus is scheduled for 2023, said the Minister of Finance of Belarus Yury Seliverstov. In March, the launch of an information system for the exchange of tax information is expected, it has already been tested.

“What became the subject of discussion at the head of state is the creation of a joint collegial tax committee. <...> A detailed algorithm of work still needs to be fixed and prescribed. <...> The deadlines for the tax treaty are somewhat delayed. There was a task to implement everything last year. No building, no maintenance, no funding needed. We need an algorithm on how to act if adjustments to the rates and conditions that are included in the contract are necessary, ”said Mr. Seliverstov on the air of the TV channel “Belarus 1”. Answering a clarifying question about the timing of the creation of the committee, the minister said that its appearance is scheduled for 2023.

Russia and Belarus have previously signed an agreement on the general principles of taxation of indirect taxes. Ratification of the document is being completed, the minister noted. Belarus is gradually implementing the activities of the program, including increasing excise rates on cigarettes and alcohol. “But questions remain about how we will implement other activities of the program,” the head of the Ministry of Finance added. He recalled that the agreement solves the problem for Minsk related to the tax maneuver in the Russian oil sector.

Russia and Belarus agreed on allied integration programs in September 2021. The documents were discussed for several years. Russia in summer 2022 appreciated execution of allied programs in 46%.
