The Ministry of Energy announced the achievement of agreements on oil supplies to Pakistan

Russia and Pakistan have reached conceptual agreements on the export of oil and oil products to Pakistan, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Mochalnikov said at a plenary meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the two states.

“Conceptual agreements have been reached on the supply of oil and oil products to Pakistan,” – informed Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy (quoted by RIA Novosti).

At the same time, according to Mochalnikov, the parties discussed issues related to the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline. According to him, they were “answered”.

Two days ago, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov explainedthat the supply of Russian oil to Pakistan can be established after logistical and financial issues are resolved.

The day before, January 19, Shulginov declaredthat Russia is ready to sign the necessary documents for the construction of the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline.

The gas pipeline with a length of more than 1,100 km and a throughput capacity of up to 12.3 billion cubic meters. m per year will connect terminals for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the ports of Karachi and Gwadar in southern Pakistan with power plants and industrial gas consumers in Kasur district (Punjab) in the north of the country.

A preliminary agreement on the project was signed in October 2015. However, in 2019, there was a threat of sanctions for Rostec and the Pipe Metallurgical Company participating in the project (TMK). Initially, it was assumed that RT-Global Resources (part of Rostec) would take care of the laying on the part of Russia, and Inter State Gas Systems, which is engaged in the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects in the gas industry, on the part of Pakistan.
