The Ministry of Education proposed to increase the number of hours of history study by 1.4 times

The total number of hours for studying history in schools is proposed to be increased by 1.4 times – from 340 to 476, follows from the project of the Ministry of Education, posted on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts (regulation.gov.ru).
The ministry also proposed increasing the study of history in grades five to eight from two to three hours per week (for 34 school weeks). In the ninth grade, according to the department, it is necessary to devote two hours a week to studying history.
In August 2023, a new unified textbook on world history and Russian history for grades 10–11 was presented, which includes chapters on the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In February 2024, similar chapters have provided in history textbooks for universities. New unified history textbook for fifth to ninth grades are planning ready in 2024. Ministry of Education also supported a proposal to show patriotic videos about a military operation in schools as part of the extracurricular activities “Talking About What Matters.”
