The creation of a textbook on the Ukrainian language for secondary schools is at the final stage, said the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Alexander Bugaev. Textbook for elementary grades developed.
The Deputy Minister drew attention to the fact that education, including in new regions, is conducted in Russian. The Ukrainian language can be studied optionally. “Of course, where parents express such a desire as an elective, a child can learn their native language, and we must create conditions for this, and such teaching aids are being developed for this,” said Mr. Bugaev. TASS.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education noted that in Russia there are a large number of programs for the study of native languages. In his opinion, this distinguishes the educational policy from the one pursued by Ukraine. “We stand for the development of national languages, for the study of the culture of the peoples of the Russian Federation who live historically, have always lived on the territory of our large multinational multi-confessional country,” Mr. Bugaev added.
Russia in the fall of 2022 annexed the Donetsk, Luhansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Russian Foreign Ministry promisedthat in new regions the study of foreign languages, including Ukrainian, will not be banned. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin called recognition by Ukraine of the Russian language as the state language as one of the requirements for peace.
