In Russia, by 2030, new engineering designs of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), technologies for their takeoff and landing, high-power batteries and materials for drones should be developed. It is planned to allocate 49 billion rubles from the federal budget for research and development in this area over the next seven years, of which 4.6 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget. – already in 2024. This follows from the passport of the federal project “Promising technologies for unmanned aerial systems (UAS)” prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science (available to Vedomosti). Its authenticity was confirmed by two interlocutors in the UAV development companies.

This project is part of the national project for the development of BAS, which, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, must be approved by September 2023. The Ministry of Education and Science is responsible for the implementation of the federal project, Vasily Shpak, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said at a strategic session with the participation of Russian BAS manufacturers at the end of April. It follows from the project passport that Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Daria Kiryanova is its leader, and Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov is its curator.
