The Ministry of Education and Science has named the areas of study in universities that are popular among children of participants in the SVO

The most popular areas of study at universities among the participants in the military operation and their children were general medicine, pedagogy, IT, applied engineering, as well as construction and dentistry. According to the results of the 2023/24 admission campaign, 6,659 people were enrolled as part of a separate quota – participants in the military operation and their children. Of these, almost 90% are children, reported “Interfax” in the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.

According to the department, the holders of a separate quota most often chose the Don State Technical University, the Higher School of Economics, Vladimir Dahl Lugansk State University, and the Moscow State Technical University. N. E. Bauman and Moscow State Law University named after O. E. Kutafin. 29 people are enrolled in MEPhI under a separate quota, 94 students are enrolled in Moscow State Technical University, and 17 people are currently enrolled in the Russian State Social University.

This year, universities (including educational institutions of the annexed territories) were allocated 626,278 state-funded places, of which a part was intended for privileged categories of citizens. At the end of 2022, a new “special operation” benefit was prescribed in the law “On Education” – at least 10% of the total budget places in each area of ​​training.
