The Ministry of Education and Science has developed rules for awarding the “Volunteer of Russia” badge

No more than 250 people will receive it annually

The rules for awarding badges for volunteer activities were developed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. On Thursday, March 14, a public discussion of the relevant project Government resolutions.

Volunteers will be awarded the honorary badge “Volunteer of Russia” for special services in such areas as education, science, culture, art, enlightenment and others. The popularization of a healthy lifestyle, physical education and sports will also be encouraged.

Each year, no more than 250 of the most deserving will receive the award. Owners of a personal volunteer e-book will be able to be included in the number of applicants. A volunteer must have worked at least 100 hours in a volunteer capacity. Another condition is the absence of an unexpunged or outstanding criminal record.

The decision to establish a volunteer award was made a year ago, but the rules for its presentation still did not exist, so it had not been awarded before. However, the opportunity to receive an award was provided for by the law on charitable activities and volunteerism, adopted back in 1995, so some regions have already established their own awards. For example, the capital has been awarding the Moscow Volunteer medal since 2022. No more than 30 people a year receive it; among the first nominees were volunteers who helped doctors during the coronavirus pandemic.

You can receive the “Russian Volunteer” award only once. The same rule applies to the Moscow Volunteer medal. However, it is quite possible that a volunteer awarded by Moscow will be able to receive a federal award, as well as an award from another region, for example, Kuzbass, which also has its own honorary volunteer badge.
