The Ministry of Education and Science will conduct an internal audit of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) because of the situation with Ukrainian flags, Konstantin Mogilevsky, deputy head of the department, said on Wednesday, TASS reports.
According to him, after “this incident, by the decision of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Nikolaevich Falkov, an internal check was appointed,” he said.
Mogilevsky also noted that “according to its results, the perpetrators will be punished.”
Earlier, telegram channels reported that Ukrainian flags were hung in the main building of RUDN University next to congratulations on the Defender of the Fatherland Day
Radio station “Moscow speaking” clarified that the flags of Ukraine were hung in front of congratulations on February 23.
The RUDN Student Council explained that this was done as part of the action of the traditional exhibition of compatriotic organizations of the university (Georgia, Moldova, Greece, Serbia, Cyprus, Montenegro). They noted that the event caused criticism, but the students oppose the creation of a Russian fraternity at PFUR, since Russia “has been and will be represented everywhere.”
