The Ministry of Economics discusses the allocation of a single subsidy to the regions for the development of tourism

The Ministry of Economic Development is considering the issue of introducing a single subsidy to regions for the development of tourism from 2024, which they will be able to spend at their discretion. This was told by Deputy Head of Department Dmitry Vakhrukov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“We are discussing with colleagues in order to switch from next year to a single regional subsidy for the development of tourism, which the regions will have at their own discretion, but having strict key indicators, spend on certain areas that are priorities for them,” leads his words “Interfax”.

The official added that now Russia has several programs to support the development of tourism in the regions, aimed at building infrastructure for tourist routes and beaches, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and social order.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that about 50 billion rubles. will be allocated from the federal budget to support the tourism sector in 2023. This will make it possible to build a new number of rooms, infrastructure for resorts, support entrepreneurial initiatives, national tourist routes, and also provide schoolchildren and youth with free educational trips, the politician noted.

This spring, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to direct voluntary contributions that come to the budget from transactions to transfer assets of investors from unfriendly countries to the development of tourism infrastructure. At the same time, Putin instructed to allocate funds to the travel companies of Crimea and Sevastopol from the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” in order to keep these organizations working.
