The Ministry of Digital Development may postpone the introduction of 5G until 2030, follows from the project for the development of telecom until 2035. With the document got acquainted “Kommersant”.
According to the Strategy for the Development of the Communications Industry in the Russian Federation for 2024-2035, by the end of 2023 equipment on LTE networks will be replaced with domestic ones. By 2027, the use of the 3G standard will end.
The released frequencies from 3G networks will be given to the LTE standard to increase speed and coverage. In 2035, tools for “joint and dynamic frequency allocation between operators” should appear.
Commercial operation of 5G and 6G-Ready networks will begin in 2030, and 5G networks will be deployed on domestic equipment in all cities of Russia with a population of over 100,000 people. At the same time, at the end of 2022, the roadmap for the development of the industry assumed that in 2023 about 100 thousand people will be able to use 5G. According to the previous plans of the Ministry of Digital Development, by 2030, 50 million subscribers should have used 5G networks.
