The Ministry of Digital Development is considering a proposal by State Duma deputy Yana Lantratova to ban television advertising of fast food and soda in the daytime, informs TASS with reference to the press service of the department.
“Appeal of Deputy Ya.V. Lantratova received and is under consideration. The Ministry of Digital Development is working on it together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and Roskomnadzor,” they said.
With a proposal to ban TV advertising of fast food, carbonated drinks and foods high in fat and salt from 07:00 to 22:00, Lantratova turned to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev last week. In her opinion, such advertising should be accompanied by a disclaimer about the nature of the effect of the product on the body. In addition, the deputy proposed to ban children under 14, non-professional actors and influencers of any age from participating in advertising of these products. The deputy believes that such measures will contribute to the formation of healthy eating habits among Russians.
Earlier in July, the Index Check study showedthat sales in fast food restaurants in Russia returned to last year’s figures, while the average check is 405 rubles, which is 15% higher than in 2021, Kommersant wrote at the time. Hot dogs, sausages in dough, coffee in 0.3 l cups, and kvass 0.5 l are especially popular among Russians.
The main reason why the demand for fast food restaurants is growing, the experts of the Index Check, called the growth of domestic tourism, as well as an established delivery system. Thus, indicators in 2022 in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi grew by a third year on year.
