The Ministry of Digital Development has begun working out a system for pre-trial blocking of fraudulent sites

The Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation will begin to block fraudulent resources that are disguised as official websites without issuing an appropriate court decision. Tells about plans “Kommersant”.

The Ministry of Digital Development, according to the publication, is going to expand cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Anti-Phishing information system to limit access to fraudulent sites. The Ministry is developing a scheme for using this system for prompt pre-trial blocking of phishing sites: they disguise themselves as websites of government agencies, companies, social networks and marketplaces.

The Anti-Phishing system was launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in June 2022. With its help, specialists can quickly find fraudulent resources. It is specified that the system can track new, re-registered and transferred domains at a speed of up to 1 million addresses per hour.

From the moment a phishing site is discovered to its blocking by a court decision, according to the norms in force today, more than one month may pass. That is, the resource will pose a threat to users for a long period. It is reported that the Ministry of Digital Development plans to reduce the response time for blocking phishing sites to 8 hours by 2024.
