The Russian Ministry of Defense plans to gradually replace the Uragan multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) with high-precision Tornado-S complexes. According to the publication “News”this will be done after studying the experience of conducting a special military operation.
“The complexes should radically enhance the capabilities of Russian artillery,” the media writes, citing its own sources.
It is expected that at the first stage the new equipment will go to front-line rocket brigades and artillery brigades of combined arms armies. Then artillery regiments of motorized rifle and tank divisions will begin to receive Tornado-S.
The speed of replacement of multiple launch rocket systems will depend on the accuracy of the implementation of the state defense order.
The Uragan and Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems were developed at the Tula research and production association Splav. The first one was put into service back in 1975. The maximum firing range of the Hurricane is 35,800 meters, while the Tornado-S is capable of destroying the enemy at a distance of up to 120 kilometers.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Aerospace Forces received another batch of Su-34 front-line bombers. The aircraft were transferred by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) as part of the execution of the state defense order.
