Russian air defense systems intercepted a Ukrainian drone in the Babyninsky district of the Kaluga region, reported The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in its Telegram channel.
“An unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted over the territory of the Babyninsky district of the Kaluga region by means of air defense on duty,” the report says.
The device, with which the Armed Forces of Ukraine intended to carry out a terrorist attack, was intercepted at about 12:00 Moscow time, the defense department added.
At 13:00 Russian air defense forces also shot down an aircraft-type drone over the Belgorod region, the Ministry of Defense reported.
Ministry of Defense tonight reported on the destruction of a missile of the modified S-200 air defense system over the territory of the Kaluga region. According to the agency, Kyiv was preparing to use it to strike at civilian targets. As the governor of the region Vladislav Shapsha noted, no one was injured as a result of the incident. No damage was found either. He clarified that the air defense system in the region worked approximately at 00:30 Moscow time in the Maloyaroslavetsky and Zhukovsky districts.
Since October 20, 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a high alert mode has been operating in the Kaluga Region. Such a regime has been introduced in all subjects of the Central and Southern Federal Districts, with the exception of Sevastopol, Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk and Rostov Regions. In these regions, the average level of response is set.
