The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation plans to significantly expand the list of combat veterans. Today, the bill developed by the main military department was posted for discussion on the portal of legal regulations.
Until recently, the status was given to Soviet and Russian military personnel, employees and employees of the internal affairs department, the troops of the national guard and state security agencies who took part in hostilities on the territory of the Russian Federation or were sent to solve combat missions outside the country. Since August last year, the status has been assigned to servicemen of the FSB, who since February 24 have been carrying out tasks to repel an armed incursion into the territory of Russia, as well as during an armed provocation on the border and in the regions adjacent to the NVO zone.
The new procedure also provides for the assignment of status to prosecutors, employees of the Investigative Committee. The list of tasks for which a status is assigned has also been expanded. Now it is not only a reflection of the invasion, but also the protection of the constitutional rights of citizens, the maintenance of law and order, the stabilization of the situation, the protection and defense of important state facilities. And if the current version of the law refers to a special operation in the territories of the DPR, LPR and Ukraine, now its effect also applies to those who fought or defended the borders and law and order also in the territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
In addition, the bill provides for the expansion of the list of those who should be given the status of a disabled war veteran. Now it can be received by employees of the prosecutor’s office, the Investigative Committee, the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Federal Bailiff Service, who became disabled due to injury, concussion, injury or illness received in the course of repulsing the invasion of territories adjacent to the NWO zone.
