The UK plans to deliver Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine at the end of March, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kingdom Alex Chuck said.
“Our intention is this, it will be at the end of March,” said Chuck (quoted by TASS). Training of the Ukrainian military to manage and maintain British tanks should start on Monday, January 30, he said.
The military assistance package will also include: eight AS-90 self-propelled artillery mounts (SAUs), about a hundred armored vehicles and protective equipment, including Bulldog armored personnel carriers, a maneuver support package that includes minefield clearance and bridging capabilities, and about 100,000 artillery shells.
The day before, January 25, Bloomberg, citing a statement by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reportedthat Germany announced the shipment of 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. German-made tanks will come from the warehouses of the armed forces of the Bundeswehr. According to the statement, Germany will also provide the allies with the necessary permission to re-export their Leopard 2s to Ukraine.
