Russia handed over the first batch of Mi-35 helicopters to Belarus. About it reported press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

The ministry clarified that the helicopters have entered service with the Belarusian army and are flying to the republic.

“The helicopters were received in accordance with the plan for the construction and development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and military-technical development with the Russian Federation,” the report says.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense did not specify the number of helicopters in question.

In February, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus Andrei Lukyanovich informedthat the Mi-35M helicopters plan to receive in the near future. “Yes, a whole squadron, but we are getting a detachment, four, by April they will already be at our airfields,” he said.

The Mi-35M is an upgraded version of the Mi-24V. It was developed by the Moscow Helicopter Plant named after M. L. Mil. Rostvertol has been manufacturing a helicopter since 2005. Its maximum speed is 300 km/h and its maximum takeoff weight is 11,500 kg. The helicopter performs flights at altitudes of 10-25 m during the day and at least 50 m at night with access to the target.

On October 10, 2022, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko agreed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the deployment of a joint regional group of troops. In July 2023, Belarus ratified an agreement with Russia on the establishment of combat training centers for the joint training of the military.
