Ministry of Defense of Russia reportedthat over the past day, Russian air defense systems intercepted four long-range SCALP-EG cruise missiles, which are supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by France. Previously, the interception of such missiles was not reported.

“Four French-made SCALP-EG long-range cruise missiles were intercepted by air defense systems,” the military department said in a report today.

Russian forces also intercepted two Uragan multiple rocket launchers and destroyed 25 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours.

Now long-range missiles are officially supplied to Ukraine by two countries – Great Britain and France. We are talking about Storm Shadow missiles and their counterpart SCALP-EG, both air-launched.

In July, National Security Adviser to the US President Jake Sullivan said that Joe Biden would discuss with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky the possibility of supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles. Prior to this, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that the Biden administration was holding a “quiet” debate on the possibility of supplying ATACMS missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At the end of May, it became known that Ukraine had requested the supply of Taurus missiles from Germany. According to Der Spiegel, Germany bought about 600 Taurus 10 years ago, of which only 150 missiles can now work. On July 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Germany’s unwillingness to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons. Last week, the German media reported that the German government going soon announce the supply of such missiles to Ukraine.
