The Ministry of Defense denies “defense breakthroughs” of the Russian army in the special operation zone

Ministry of Defense of Russia reportedthat the information circulated in Telegram about the “defense breakthroughs” of the Russian army in various parts of the line of contact is not true. On the possible start of a counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) spoke Russian war correspondents.

The Ministry of Defense claims that the general situation in the area of ​​the military operation is under control. According to him, in the Zaporozhye and Kherson, as well as in the Kupyansk directions, “active operations are not being carried out.” The military department also provided information in other areas:

• in the Krasno Limansky direction – “two attacks of enemy company tactical groups were repelled in the areas of the settlements of Kremennaya and Chervonaya Dibrova”;
• in the Donetsk direction – “three enemy attempts to conduct reconnaissance in force were suppressed, and eight attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the positions of Russian troops were successfully repelled”;
• the liberation of the western part of Artemovsk continues;
• there are “active actions to block Avdiivka and take control of Maryinka.”

“Currently, a battle is underway to repel an attack by a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the settlement of Maloilinovka. Army and assault aviation, as well as artillery are involved. The enemy suffers significant losses in manpower and equipment, ”the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

Western countries expect Ukraine’s counter-offensive to begin soon. UK, however, thinksthat it may not be decisive in the conflict. May 9 US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken saidthat Kyiv received everything necessary for the counteroffensive. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba saidthat if Kyiv does not succeed in the counter-offensive, there will be one more.
