The Ministry of Defense announced the taking under control of three more quarters in Artemovsk

Assault detachments took three more quarters in the northern, central and southern parts of Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) in the DPR. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“In the Donetsk direction, as a result of active operations, assault detachments captured three blocks in the northern, central and southern parts of the city of Artemovsk,” says in the next report of the department dated April 18.

It is noted that the fighters were supported by the Airborne Forces and units of the Southern Group of Forces. In particular, the Russian military stopped counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the flanks in the city. To support the assault detachments, six sorties were also made by aviation. Artillery completed 63 fire missions. As a result, the loss of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk direction amounted to over 290 people.

In the Krasnolimansky direction, the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation hit Ukrainian troops in the areas of the settlements of Chervonaya Dibrova and Chervonopopovka in the LPR, as well as Terny and Grigorovka in the DPR. More than 80 Ukrainian soldiers were destroyed in this direction. In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy lost up to 35 people, and in the Kherson direction – more than 25. In total, in the Yuzhno-Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 30 people.

In addition, in the DPR, Russian troops destroyed the command posts of two brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the Nikolaev region, two fuel depots for Ukrainian military equipment were liquidated, the Ministry of Defense specified.

On the eve of April 17, assault detachments of PMC “Wagner” have taken under control of two quarters in Artemovsk – in the north-west and in the central part of the city. In total, enemy losses in the Donetsk direction exceeded 270 servicemen and one tank per day.

On April 16, the Ministry of Defense announced that Wagner assault detachments had taken control of two blocks in the northwestern and southeastern parts of Artemovsk. Earlier, the founder of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that the fighters control more than 80% of the city. At the same time, it is too early to talk about the complete encirclement of Artemovsk, he specified.

The Russian special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of hostilities, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 407 aircraft and 228 helicopters. More than 3,770 drones were also shot down.
